Wipro staffer threatens client, sacked

In the second case in less than four months, another employee from Wipro took to scare-mongering, issuing an online threat to a client from the company's Noida facility three days ago. "We cannot reveal the nature of the threat or the client it was made to, but we have taken prompt action," said a Wipro spokesperson, adding that the person was a BPO staff member.

Following a complaint by the client, Wipro BPO officials informed the Delhi police. The Wipro staffer was identified and forced to resign from his post. "We took less than 24 hours to know who did it and we did not take it lightly," said the spokesperson. Errant staffers have been dogging Wipro for some time. In March 2005, a Wipro employee from Bangalore had created a bomb hoax triggering panic in the city. Police had to evacuate scores of employees from the Wipro Technologies office on MG Road.
